Gurney Drive, Penang is an esplanade stretching for over 2- km. Located in the outskirts of Georgetown; it is the popular time-out spot for families and lovers and an ideal spot to have a glimpse of the sunset. It is basically an upscale residential area that is considered to be the haven of morning walkers and joggers and also acts as a popular venue for t'ai chi exercises.
The place boasts numerous hawker shops that are very popular with the tourists for their tempting menu. In addition to these shops, a number of modern cafes have come up in the recent years in the many bungalows that run along the Drive. Overall the ambience of the place is electric; there always a buzz in the place with people from different walks of the society enjoying themselves.
Ten minutes from the place is the Hokkien Mee stall located opposite the Pulau Tikus police station, where you can have hokkien mee or prawn noodles. These noodles are considered to be a specialty on the island.
The stalls are generally open from 6.00pm to 12.00am daily.
