Peru has one of the world's most varied weather, with 28 out of 32 weather conditions found in the country. Peru is located in the tropics near the equator, but its weather is not entirely tropical, as it doesn't conform to its geographical location. The two prime reasons for this are the presence of the Andean Mountain Range and the cold Humboldt Current, both significantly influencing the regional weather in Peru.
The weather of Peru changes as you travel from one region to another. On tours to Peru, you'll find hot and humid tropical weather in the Amazon area, mild and pleasant temperate weather in coastal region, hot and dry desert weather in western Peru, as well as temperate to frigid weather in the Andes Mountains. Though rains are less frequent in most parts of Peru, the Amazon area has torrential rains all year round. Peru more or less has four distinct seasons- summer, winter, autumn and spring. The best time to visit Peru is between July and September. February and March can also be an ideal period to visit Peru, when weather is fairly tolerable.
