Thai Buffalo Training Camp Chiang Mai

Thai Buffalo Training Camp is dedicated to save the lives of the buffaloes and the rural farmers. It is opened on the out skirts of Mae Rim, few kilometers north of Chaing Mai. The training camp spreads over a large area and overlooks the magnificent view of the picturesque Doi Suthep Mountains. It is an ideal place to experience the true flavor of the Asian country as you watch the farmers and the buffaloes working on the fields in traditional style.

Thai Buffalo Training Camp, Chaing Mai aim is to preserve and protect the traditional life of the Thai farmers and the Buffaloes. It is one unique project dedicated to save the buffaloes from slaughter and to preserve the traditional Thai farming. Here Buffaloes are trained efficiently and are used in plowing and grazing the paddy fields. As you visit the camp you will notice the buffaloes are taught working commands such as "Turn Left", "Turn Right" and "Go Straight". The farmers coordinate the buffaloes and the work is done efficiently without depending on any machine and modern equipments. It is a beautiful team work whose fruits are plentiful and abundant.

You will also notice a water wheel operated by buffalo, providing irrigation to the paddy fields. You will also view sugar processed from raw cane as a buffalo turns a pulping machine completely handmade of wood. You can also relax and sit back and marvel the different antics of mounting and dismounting and relaxing on the backs of the buffaloes while they are working. It is also a thrilling experience to watch the farmers as they race each other mounting on the back of the buffalo.

Mae Rim Buffalo Training Camp is a must view tourist spot if you want to see the traditional culture of Asia and their traditional farming ways.

You can also visit the folk museum which is a traditional farmhouse showcasing the life style of rural countryside of northern Thailand. Lastly you can also enjoy an amazing and thrilling Buffalo ride and cherish a beautiful simple rural memory forever in your mind.
