Food of Thailand

The food of Thailand is world famous. From America to Australia, every country has a special Thai appetite! So while in Thailand, one can't help but try out the delectable Thai delights. The food of Thailand is characterized by the hot, tangy taste that is mostly associated with it. However, for those who prefer a non-spicy spread, loads of Thai dishes are available which are bland as well.

Most of the Thai dishes don't use large chunks of meat or vegetables. Shredded, finer pieces are more compatible with Thai cooking. Initially, the majority of the Thai food was prepared either by stewing or baking, but with a Chinese influence, Thai cooking now sees a lot of frying.

Thai food is also known for the use of fewer spices and more of herbs. A lot of herbs are found in the food of Thailand, making it both delicious as well as nutritious. Another very interesting feature of Thai food is that instead of being served one by one, Thai food is served all together, giving you an opportunity to combine different tastes and flavors while eating.

Thai food is always eaten with a fork and spoon and knifes are seldom used. An ideal Thai meal includes a soup, a curry dish with seasonings, a dip along with fish and vegetables and a spiced salad. This would be followed by sweet desserts and/or fresh fruits such as grapes, durian, jackfruit, mangoes, papaya, or melon.
