The Tsunami that hit most of south Asia on December 26, 2004 had a horrible effect on Thailand as well. There was death, destruction, loss of property and the country was left in a complete mess, much like its neighbors. The tsunami in Thailand claimed 230,210 lives and left millions homeless. The tsunami in Thailand also hit the tourism industry hard as many tourists who were visiting Thailand at the time also suffered a lot, resulting in a fear in others to visit the country.
However, reconstruction work has been done with great competency and much of Thailand is back to what it used to be before the killer waves struck and tourists have also started to come to Thailand once again.
However the physical and material loss caused by the tsunami in Thailand can probably never be compensated and it will forever remain as one of the worst tragedies to have struck Thailand.
