Cultural Olympiad 2010 will occur simultaneously with the 2010 Winter Olympics. Vancouver is a major cultural melting pot, and it is expected that there will be an absolutely mesmerizing range of diverse and memorable performances during the Olympics. The Olympic Games, right from the early days of its inception, was a meeting place for not only the greatest sportspersons but the best performers of the time as well.
British Columbia has an immense wealth of aboriginal and tribal culture and Vancouver is the showcase of the state in the fields of art and culture. It stands at cultural crossroads where numerous cultural affiliations from all over the world coalesce and contribute. As a result, the city is planning a cultural exhibition that promises to be breathtaking! There are going to be two preparatory festivals leading up to the final cultural celebration that will happen between the months of February and March in 2010.
The first of these preparatory festivals was held between February and March in 2008, while the second one will be held from February to March in 2009.
There will be an eclectic blend of the traditional and the modern forms of art in the Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver in 2010. While there will be a number of dramatic and musical performances staged by the First Nations and the aboriginal people of British Columbia, there will also be some extremely cutting edge graphic performances from the leading digital artists of the world. Films, theaters, music, painting, sculpting, dances and digital arts are only some of the events that will be held in Vancouver as part of the 2010 Cultural Olympiad.
