Cultural Olympiad’s Digital Edition

Cultural Olympiad’s Digital Edition or CODE is a unique program undertaken by the VANOC to ensure participation from Canadian artists and media houses on the digital and online platform. CODE is devoted to the objective of presenting the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Canada to the world, using the Winter Olympics in Vancouver as a platform.

CODE is an integral part of the Cultural Olympiad that will be held simultaneously with the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Canada boasts of being one of the most cyber-friendly countries in the world, with over a thousand media companies that operate in Vancouver itself. There are many more that operate from the BC region. CODE will bring together the efforts of all these groups through a collaborative effort involving artists, audience, media houses and designers. The goal is to create a unique tapestry of Canadian culture with the use of the most cutting edge digital technology.

The Cultural Olympiad’s Digital Edition plans to work in close communication with national as well as local media organization, and art groups that are distributed all over Canada. Digital technology provides an open platform where artists can contribute their works irrespective of their geographical locations. VANOC wants to make the best of the cultural pool available at their disposal in Canada. It is believed that the CODE will give a unique and unprecedented perspective to the Vancouver Winter Games.
