National Presentation and Touring Program

The National Presentation and Touring Program has been planned carefully with the intent of displaying the best Canadian artistic talents to the world. Vancouver Organizing Committee or VANOC works in close communion with the arts community and the various territorial and provincial ministries to carry out the NPTP program successfully. This program will bolster the Cultural Olympiad that will be held alongside the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

British Columbia has one of the richest wealth of aboriginal cultural tradition in the whole of Canada. It is therefore, quite imperative that aboriginal arts and crafts will play a very big role in the cultural events to be held during Winter Olympics, Vancouver, in February 2010. The cultural scenario of Vancouver is awe-inspiring, and the National Presentation and Touring Program is devoted to make the best use of the existing resources.

VANOC does not intend the Winter Olympics to be a stand-alone event. It wants a proper pre-Games build up and a post-Games legacy to build around the central event. Cultural events and exhibitions have already been held in February, 2008, and there will be another similar month-long event to be held in 2009. Similarly, one of the major objectives of NPTP is to leave a positive post-Games legacy for the entire nation. The program plans to do it with connections built between presenters, producers and funding agencies all across Canada and the audience and the artists.
