Four Host First Nations in 2010 Winter Olympics

The Four Host First Nations in 2010 Winter Olympics include the times of Lil’wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh, inhabitants in the British Columbia (BC) region for over a thousand years. It is anticipated that the aboriginal participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics is going to be unprecedented. The Four Host First Nations Society (FHFNS) has entered into an agreement with the VANOC to ensure a high level of participation from the various aboriginal tribes of the British Columbia.

There are close to two hundred First Nations in British Columbia. Their histories and cultures are rich and diverse. Their languages, literary and artistic tradition, music and dance are important strands on the cultural matrix of the province of BC. The Winter Olympics Games is determined to showcase the cultural richness of the First Nations to the world. It can be a great occasion to let the world know more about the aboriginal tribes of the British Columbia.

The 2010 Aboriginal Trade Pavilion will be the highlight of the First Nations’ participation in the Winter Games. The FHFN Pavilion occupies approximately 20,000 sq. ft. The pavilion will serve as a platform where the aboriginal people can develop key skills in the fields of technical communications, media relations, event planning, culinary arts and retail business. It will also provide a space for the First Nations members to get involved in some business.

The best of the aboriginal artworks will be found in this pavilion, both traditional and contemporary. It will also be a great place to taste some exquisite aboriginal cuisine, and learn about their history, languages, trade and other aspects of their life. You can also experience some great Aboriginal theatrical and musical performances in this pavilion.
