Getting to Vancouver

Getting to Vancouver is very easy and convenient. Vancouver can be reached in a number of ways- by air, water, car, bus, or boat. You can make your own preferences, depending upon your travel purpose and budget.

Getting to Vancouver by Air: Vancouver International Airport located in south Vancouver serves as the hub for flights in Western Canada. You can book a direct flight to Vancouver from all major cities in Canada and the United States, Asia and Europe. Seattle-Tacoma Airport in the US and Abbotsford Airport in British Columbia operate a good number of flights to the city.

Getting to Vancouver by Train: You can also reach Vancouver by train. VIA Rail links Toronto to Vancouver with three weekly departures. You can also take Rocky Mountaineer which operates between Vancouver and Banff, Calgary and Jasper thrice a week. Amtrak operates regular train services between Seattle and Vancouver. The local railway station is at Pacific Central Station, where all trains to Vancouver halt. Train routes to Vancouver give you a glimpse of Canadian Rockies.

Getting to Vancouver by Bus: A good number of bus services have routes via Vancouver. Greyhound operates bus lines that connect Vancouver with Calgary, Seattle, and Nanaimo. Quick Coach runs bus services that link Vancouver with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington. Travelers can also book tickets with Pacific Coach for buses from Victoria to Vancouver.

Getting to Vancouver by Car: Vancouver can also be reached by car through the Trans-Canada Highway. If you are coming from USA/Canada border, you can drive along Highway 99 that runs north of Vancouver. Travelers coming from North Shore can come via the Lion's Gate to reach Vancouver's city center.

Getting to Vancouver by Boat: You can also reach Vancouver by ferry. You can take ferry services from any of the two ferry terminals serviced by BC Ferries. The Tsawwassen terminal in Delta links to Nanaimo and Victoria on Vancouver Island and to the Southern Gulf Islands. If you plan to start from Horseshoe Bay terminal in the North Shore services, you can get down at Nanaimo, Bowen Island or the Sunshine Coast.
