Getting to Whistler

Getting to Whistler is quite easy since it is accessible by airways, railways, waterways and roadways. Whistler, lies on the coast with Strait of Georgia, south of Vancouver. Vancouver is well connected by regular domestic as well as international flights.

Flights to Vancouver Direct flights from most important United States and European cities fly to Vancouver International Airport. BMI British Midland, British Airways, Jet Airways have direct flights from London Heathrow to Vancouver. Lufthansa and Air Canada operate direct flights between Frankfurt and Vancouver. Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, and Air Canada operate regular flights from Tokyo to Vancouver. Air New Zealand and Air Canada have regular non-stop flights from Sydney to Vancouver.

All major US and Canadian cities are connected by regular flights to Vancouver.

After reaching Vancouver you can travel about 150 km northwards to Whistler by bus, car, or cab. Alternatively you may reach Whistler by train from Vancouver.

Trains to Whistler in Vancouver

Vancouver is connected by five trains to other Canadian cities and towns. These are:
  • Whistler Mountaineer – This train service operates between Whistler and Vancouver daily from middle of May till middle of October. It departs from Vancouver in the morning and from Whistler in the afternoon.
  • Rocky Mountaineer – This railway service connects Whistler to Vancouver. The other Canadian cities connected by this railway include Calgary, Jasper and Banff.
  • ViaRail Trains – ViaRail, the national passenger rail service of Canada connects Vancouver to Jasper, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax.
  • West Coast Express – West Coast Express connects downtown Vancouver to Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, and Mission.
  • Amtrak – Amtrak operates passenger train service between Seattle and Vancouver.
Ferry Services to Vancouver

In addition to air, train and bus services travelers can avail ferry services to Vancouver from Seattle, San Juan Islands, and Port Angeles.
