Situated on the banks of the Fraser River, at a distance of about 14 kilometers from the city of Vancouver, the Richmond Olympic Oval is one of those prized spots for hosting some of the events of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The place is fairly large with a seating capacity of 8,000 and will host one of the most popular events of the Winter Games next year – the speed skating competitions. Apart from all these sustainable benefits, new initiatives at the Richmond Olympic Oval include a storm water management project dealing with an excellent on site water collection and treatment plant for irrigation and sanitation purpose.
