Whistler Creekside

Being a competitive venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Whistler Creekside Olympic venue with its perfect ambiance, hosting capacity and convenient location is sure to steal the show hosting breathtaking performances in the coming year. The place is a considerably famous ski resort and each year attracts visitors from all over the world for the World Cup Competitions organized by the International Ski Federation. The Whistler Creekside Winter Olympic site being atop the alpine mountain at an elevation of 810 meters, holds two separate arenas hosting Olympic alpine skiing events for men and women. The Dave Murray Downhill hosts men's Olympic alpine skiing events, while the Franz's Run hosts the women's Paralympic alpine skiing events. The seating capacities at the Dave Murray Downhill and the Franz's Run are 7,600 and 6,000 respectively.

The construction project for the Whistler Creekside Winter Olympic site was a joint initiative of the Governments of Canada and British Columbia beginning in the summer of 2006 till the fall of 2007. The main events that are to be held at this venue include the men's and women's Super-G, Downhill and Slalom. The Whistler Creekside Olympic Venue not only features a number of sustainable attributes, but it has also been constructed in a way to be used as Canadian non competition venue and for further International competitions in the future.

The 2010 Winter Olympic venue has undergone a fair extent of upgradation and improvement of the technical and accommodation facilities to effectively serve as one of the most popular competition sites of the 2010 Winter Games. The performance sites and game arenas have been upgraded along with technical installations to improve the air conditioning system, ventilation, lightning and other necessary facilities for the ultimate comfort of both the athletes and the spectators. All these post constructional developments and upgradation are done by maintaining the overall environmental balance of the locality as per the specifications based on the federal environmental assessment initiative.
