Whistler Olympic Park

Whistler Olympic Park is one of the competition venues for the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games 2010. Whistler Olympic Park covers an area of one-square-kilometer, which include three separate stadiums for cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski jumping events which is located about 400 meters apart. It also features technical sport buildings, day lodge, 14 kilometers of biathlon and cross-country competition trails and two ski jumps.

The Olympic venue has a capacity to accommodate about 12,000 people in each of the three stadiums. The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games venue has a capacity to hold up to 6,000 people. Construction of Whistler Olympic Park is estimated at about $119.7 million and jointly funded by the Canadian and the provincial British Columbia governments.

Location of Whistler Olympic Park:

Whistler Olympic Park is located 16 km southwest of Whistler, which is situated 50 km to the north of Squamish and 115 kilometers north of Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia in Canada.

How to reach Whistler Olympic Park:

If you are heading to Whistler Olympic Park from Whistler, you need to drive south on Highway 99 towards Squamish. Now turn right onto the new Callaghan Valley access road. The entrance to Whistler Olympic Park is located 10 km up the Callaghan road.



If you are coming from Vancouver or Squamish, you need to drive north on Highway 99 towards Whistler. Next, you have to take a left turn to the new Callaghan Valley access road, which lies 40 kilometres from Garibaldi Way in Squamish. The entrance to Whistler Olympic Park lies at a distance of 10 km up the Callaghan road.

Winter Olympics 2010 in Whistler Olympic Park:

Whistler Olympic Park in Callaghan Valley has been chosen as the site for a variety of games in the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games. It will be featuring cross-country biathlon, Nordic combined and ski jumping events.

There are 28 events in total in Olympic Winter Games 2010, which includes, 10 events for Biathlon, 12 events for Cross-country skiing, 3 events for Nordic combined, and 3 events for Ski jumping.

Paralympic Winter Games 2010 includes 32 events in total. There will 22 events for Cross-country skiing and 10 events for Biathlon.
