TVolunteer programs in 2010 Winter Games are a part of the Olympic organizing committee’s youth participation programs. VANOC is looking forward to the participation of young, trustworthy and spirited people from all over the country to work in various fields associated with the organization of the event. Vancouver and Whistle will be hosts to thousands of visitors from overseas as well as other parts of Canada for much of February 2010. Visitors will include athletes, support staff, media personnel as well as thousands of viewers. As such, the help of volunteers will be necessary to conduct the event in a planned and beautiful way. VANOC plans to recruit as many as 25,000 volunteers for Winter Olympic Games 2010.
Anyone, above 19 years of age, is eligible to work as a volunteer in the Winter Games of 2010. However, there are certain preferences of skills. Some of the prerequisites that the organizing committee has laid down for people who want to work as volunteers are:
-
Personal accommodation arrangement in Vancouver
- Access to the internet and a valid e-mail address
- A Java enabled computer
- A cleared RCMP background with all security clearances
There are a wide range of functions that a volunteer can choose from while applying for a job as a volunteer in the 2010 Winter Olympics. There are administrative as well as hospitality jobs. Flexibility of timing and availability are desired for anyone willing to work in the 2010 games on a voluntary basis. There are both pre-Olympics and post-Olympics jobs, apart from the usual voluntary responsibilities one has to carry while the competition is on.
